MatchMate Memory Card Game has the same Norman Rockwell themes I used for the puzzles for repetition and recollection. This is a great activity for memory treatment and brain exercise, using memory recollection, emotional memory, problem solving skills and eye - hand coordination. An additional benefit, I guarantee, the storytelling themes by Norman Rockwell will make it easier for you to interact with your loved one, making your visit less stressful. Everyone loves Norman Rockwell, one of America's most loved artists. Cards are oversized - 3.5 x 5" with great detail. 8 different image sets, 2 images per set. How to Play MatchMate is similar to concentration or “go fish”, the object of the game is to find the 2 matching cards. If you are playing with a person who has alzheimer’s or dementia I play the game a little different. I usually start with 2-3 sets of images, place them face up to assure success. Face down is too difficult and some will become easily frustrated, and not want to play. When they succeed add more cards.
Note: Depending on the level of the players the game can be played the same way as go fish.
Some people enjoy just looking at the images, and then we talk about the image. Some are very cautious about selecting the matching cards. Don’t rush them, encourage them or ask them questions. This is not a test, just a fun moment in time.
